Test results

If you are asked to provide a specimen/sample for testing please make sure that it is in the correct container provided by the practice. The container must be clearly labeled and contain your name and date of birth. Samples must be handed in to reception before 12 noon. Reception staff cannot take any samples which have not been requested by a doctor or nurse.

Samples/specimens are collected at 12 noon, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) and taken to the laboratory for testing. Please make sure that we have an up to date telephone number.

Once your sample has been processed by the lab, the result is sent back to the practice electronically. Results are then viewed by the doctor who will then decide if any action is necessary.

Please allow 7 days for results to processed before you contact us.  Test results can be viewed on the NHS APP – Download now

If you do not have internet access you can call the surgery after 2pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays) or you can submit a PATCHS admin request.

Enquiries about tests ordered by the hospital should be directed to the hospital and not the practice.  In order to maintain confidentiality test results will only be given to the patient or to parents/guardians of minors if appropriate.
